College is over, you’ve landed your dream job and now it’s time to create a great impression on your first day. Here’s everything you’ve got to do to make sure you’re off to a flying start. Good luck!
Dress to Impress
First impressions last, and your appearance is what makes an entrance before all else, so dress for it. Wear well-fitted smart formals that accentuate your frame. Stick to white, black and navy, they are hard to go wrong with, and wear shoes that you are comfortable in. Don’t over-accessorize and keep your make-up subtle. If your workplace dress code isn’t formals, then semi-formal is the best way. Keep it neat and minimal, and avoid anything too loud.
Arrive on Time
Tardiness never wins any awards, even if you are the highest contributor. Make sure you are ten minutes ahead of time. A last minute rush will only make you look like you’ve been through a tornado.
Be Confident
Keep your shoulders upright, your face up and look confident, no one has to know you have butterflies fluttering in your stomach and beads of sweat forming on your forehead.
Keep the smile handy
A smile always works. The more pleasant you are, the better the impression you’ll make.
Remember, you have 2 ears and 1 mouth
There’s a reason behind that ratio, so listen more and talk less.
Be a Sponge
Soak up all the knowledge you can. Be curious, ask questions and shadow your co-workers. Everyone likes feeling important; just don’t get in the way.
And, repeat, till the next fresher arrives.
