Even though we have long crossed the paths of childhood, Children’s Day i.e. the 14th of November every single year makes us remember all the flashbacks and memories we have of our younger years and the nostalgia that comes along with it. We have always heard people saying that no matter the age, you should always be a child at heart and this children’s day, let that child run free and enjoy your heart out without any worries or stresses of adulthood. Here are a few ways in which you can enjoy this day and let your hair down, without a care in the world.

Children's Day orphanage visit

Spreading smiles

This Children’s Day, why not share the greatest gift of all, the gift of smiles! Spend your day in the best way possible by bringing smiles on the faces of the most innocent souls on earth. Make a trip to the orphanage and spend the day with the less-privileged kids – play with them, tell them stories and maybe take some small gifts that’ll bring big smiles on their faces. You can even ask your friends and family to accompany you and believe me, spending the whole day with them, turning into kids along with them, and seeing their smiling faces will give you happiness and contentment like no other.

Children's Day movies and shows

Movie marathon

What can be more fun than a whole day of re-watching your favourite childhood movies, cartoons or TV shows? On this Children’s Day, choose your most favourite animated and Disney movies of all time and let’s get the marathon started. You can have back-to-back screenings of the whole Harry potter series, Baby’s Day Out, Aladdin, Home Alone, Spy Kids or Casper. You can even binge watch on your most favourite childhood cartoons like Tom and Jerry, Dexter’s laboratory, Johnny Bravo, Scooby doo and go on a nostalgia-inducing trip. Rustle up big bowls of popcorn, call over your childhood buddies or closest cousins and get the show started!

Children's Day board games

Bring out the board games

All of you indulged in crazy rounds of your favourite board games, right? In the generation without phones and technology in our hands, we were all about games both indoor and outdoor. Those were the times when we used to impatiently wait to finish our homework so that we could go and play. So what if you have grown up? You can dedicate one day to playing games that you loved as kids instead of constantly updating your social media, for a change. Call your friends and family over and stack up on those board games or get them out of the attic. Ludo, Monopoly, Carrom, Chinese checkers, Cards, Scrabble – indulge in your childhood favorite pastime and be a kid once again!

Children's Day amusement park

Amusement park attraction

Another way of spending your day like a kid is by visiting the most exciting place of your childhood – amusement parks! Go to your local amusement parks or water parks, and try every ride possible, reminiscing about the times when you used to excitedly wait for your turn at those very rides. Scream on the roller coasters, bump into other cars, go into the scary house and have uninhibited fun, while you laugh and take pictures reliving moments from your childhood. You can even try all the water games, getting wet, laughing hysterically and pushing all your friends into the water – not acting anything like the usual prim and proper adult for this one day.

Children's Day kids party

Kiddie party

What’s better a way to have fun than partying?? Call over all your new and old friends, and invite all your neighbourhood kids or nephews, nieces and have a bash at your place. Arrange for all snacks and foods that were popular in your childhood and also include nostalgic party games like ‘pin the tail on the donkey’, musical chairs, passing the parcel etc. Create a playlist of all your old favourite tracks and let’s get the party started. Give the millennial kids a taste of your own childhood, and they’ll know what they missed out on!

So, this November 14th, have loads of fun and craziness just like the good ol’ days, by indulging in one or more of these exciting ideas. Be a kid again and take a break from all this stressful adult-ing for one day!
