It’s that wonderful time of the year when boots make their way to the front row of your shoe closet and the strappy numbers get pushed to the back. And no matter where you fall on the shoe-addict chart, crazy to in-control, you know that this time of the year is best referred to as the “boots season!”
So how can a fashionista step up her boot game? Well, we’ve done the groundwork for you, and selected and styled 5 boots that’ll help put your best foot forward this winter.
Keep it casual with a fitted dress or a sweater dress, warm leggings, and a cardigan.
1. Dark maroon ankle-length flat boots
Flat boots will prove to be your trusted companions all winter. Try to find a pair with some interesting detailing, like a smart strap with a small to medium-sized buckle. These boots work well for slender legs and petite heights.
Team them up with black/dark blue cuffed jeans, a round neck tee, and a bomber jacket for a casual chic look.
2. Black ankle-length heeled boots
These boots are to winter what your pumps are to the rest of the year. No matter what your body shape or size is, these boots will work wonders for you. Classic plain boots or maybe a pair with interesting leather detailing is what we would like to see in your closet.
Add an androgynous twist to your style by wearing these boots with a pair of boyfriend jeans, a high-neck blouse or jumper in a solid colour, and a sharp blazer. Complete the look with a chunky men’s watch.
3. Suede knee-high boots
These boots are a bit tricky to style but you’ll be ready to rock and roll once you’ve got the hang of it. These boots are made for you if your legs are longer than your torso, if you have slim legs, or if you’re tall. Colours like grey, black, and maroon are our winter favourites.
Team them up with your skinniest pair of jeans, a jumper/ turtleneck/ cashmere sweater, and a long coat. Accessorise this look with bold metallic/jewelled studs.
4. Lace-up boots
These are the most crush-worthy boots of the season, despite the fact that they’re a tad bit tedious to wear! The length of these boots can finish anywhere up to your ankles, your calves, or your knees. If you have slim legs, muscular legs, or petite long legs then definitely pick up a pair. Colours like shades of brown from a camel to dark rusty brown are a must-have.
Pair these with your skinniest denims, and keep fewer layers on the top since the focus of your outfit will be these boots, for sure.
5. Wedge boots
Why are wedge-boots an absolute must-have?
Two reasons – the heel adds to your height while the wedge shape gives you all the comfort, thereby increasing their versatility ten-fold. These boots will carry you through the day with ease, right from a lunch date with your girlfriends to a cocktail dinner with the man of your dreams.
Wedge boots are fabulously fashionable and can be worn with denims and dresses.
6. Blue suede stacked-heel booties
Surprise!
So we lied to you. We have 6 boots in our list of favourites and we were saving the best for last. The stacked-heel booties are a marriage made in heaven. They’re undeniably fashionable yet practical. Finally there’s a heel that won’t kill your feet! These boots work well for all body shapes, even if you have short stout legs.
